Insect Exclusion Screen Structures
Screen Structures are designed to minimize pest intrusion and protect the crop from wind, dust and extreme temperatures to improve yield qualities. Given the increased problems and costs associated with pesticides, no modern structure should be without the proper insect barrier. GIDCO Insect Screens, correctly installed, prevent insect penetration; yet provide maximum possible air flow, essential for optimal crop yields.
Anti-Virus Insect Screen excludes Whitefly, aphids, Leafminers and up to 80% of Western Flower Thrips in field applications. Several years of laboratory and field testing have resulted in a patented screen structure that maximizes air circulation, while keeping pests out.
In addition to the screen, retractable (manual or fully automatic) shade panels are installed to aid in climate control inside the structures. An over-head trellising system is installed to assist in crop support.

Crop Shade Structures
These structures are designed to protect the crop from harsh sunlight, minimizing sunburn, while allowing for a more uniform crop. They also provide excellent protection from wind, dust and some pests. The distance between the post lines varies depending on the shade percentage and the crop configurations.
The shade can be installed in the following ways: 1. Fixed to the structure, 2. Manually retractable, 3. Fully automatically retractable, 4. Removable.

Nursery Shade Structures
Shade Structures are used for Nurseries where plants are being light conditioned for indoor/outdoor use or where plants are being deliberately drawn to achieve increased height by reaching to a restricted light source. These systems are typically 8 to 15 feet high and apply to small local retail nurseries, as well as, large commercial operations spanning over tens of acres. They come in various shapes and shade percentage (mostly in the 40% to 70% range) depending on the type of plant, duration and location.

Shades for Storage, Packing, Etc.
GIDCO designs and installs shade structures for agricultural storage, packing, and processing areas. These structures protect workers, equipment, and harvested crops from direct sun and weather, extending the usable life of materials and improving working conditions on the farm.
Structures can be configured as permanent or semi-permanent installations, with fixed or retractable shade panels, and are sized to fit any operation from small family farms to large commercial packing facilities.

Other Protective Structures
GIDCO designs and builds a wide range of custom protective structures tailored to the specific needs of each farming operation. From specialized enclosures to multi-function systems combining shade, insect exclusion, and climate control, our team has the experience to engineer the right solution for your crop and site conditions.

Protective Structures
Hoop-Houses/Tunnels
Tunnels come as individual units or conjoined to create a continuous protective structure and can be covered with clear poly sheets and/or shade. They are easy to put together and can be installed as permanent structures or portable to be moved with each crop. The width and height are determined by the crop needs, row spacing etc.; the poly film comes in various sizes, thicknesses and characteristics. Tunnels can also be equipped with overhead trellising.
Protective Structures
Trellising
Permanent trellises are systems designed to support various crops such as table grapes, wine grapes, high density apples, cherries, olives and other hedgerow crops. In its simplest form it is a single pole placed next to the plant, with numerous horizontal wires; the more elaborate system consists of poles, arms and supports holding various sizes of wires to support the crop. Each crop requires its own design to accommodate the plant requirement, weight and farm machinery used. Trellising can be combined with our other protective structures.
Protective Structures
Windbreaks
Vertical Windbreak Systems protect the crop from wind and dust while allowing maximum air flow and full sun exposure. It also functions as an insect barrier and can be equipped with Electric and Plain Wire System Fencing to prevent animal intrusion. It comes in various sizes: 1. Small windbreaks to protect individual plants, 2. Medium height windbreaks, typically 8 to 10 feet tall, to protect low laying crops, and 3. Large size - elaborate web of windbreak systems protecting tens and hundreds of acres. These windbreaks are typically 15 to 18 feet tall.
